The 2026 CSA Share pick ups will begin in June. We will know the exact start date by the end of May. The hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.
When we begin the CSA, we hope to have head lettuce, leaf lettuce & greens, spinach, bok choi, garlic scapes, a little bit of asparagus, and maybe salad turnips, scallions, radishes, and kale.
We are still offering a pre-bag option for a charge of $5 per week. (For new folks: we set up farmer’s market style in the barn and folks can pick and choose their veggies based on their families’ likes and needs. The pre-bag option is where our crew bags up your CSA and puts it outside the barn for you to pick up during CSA pick up hours. We are not able to honor specific vegetable choices with this option—we will choose what goes in each bag, often choosing the most popular veggies.) Please email us if you would like to choose the pre-bag option.
If you need to change your pick up day, please go to this link to make the change before 8 a.m. on the day of your pick up.
Our CSA Handbook has information about picking up your CSA share, U-picking tips, and vegetable storage tips.
U-Pick items are available any time they are in season for CSA members. When you come, please check the U-Pick board for any changes.
Medicinal Herb Garden

Since 2019, our Medicinal Herb Garden has been thriving, featuring over 100 varieties of plants traditionally used in herbal health remedies—all of which are organic and of the highest quality. CSA members who wish to gather medicinal herbs can reach out to garden manager Maura McCabe at 507-581-4185 or mccabem013@gmail to arrange a garden visit. Donations are appreciated to help cover seed and supply costs, as well as to compensate Maura for her efforts. Be sure to explore this year’s garden inventory. The list of what is available to harvest will be updated regularly throughout the seasons.

Mushrooms from Forest to Fork

We grow all our mushrooms indoors, year-round, in a unique space—the old Faribault Foods cannery (across from the Woolen Mill), which sat abandoned for 8 years. We’ve repurposed the building from top to bottom, even turning the old bean-cooking retort canners into mushroom sterilizers. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
This summer, Forest to Fork is thrilled to be partnering with Open Hands Farm as a new CSA add-on. We’ll be delivering a rotating selection of our farm-fresh, specialty mushrooms alongside your weekly CSA box—all grown in Faribault, Minnesota.
Each week, you’ll receive a mix of our gourmet varieties, including:
Lion’s Mane – Buttery, slightly sweet, and seafood-like (think crab or lobster!)
Oyster – Mild and delicate with a hint of anise; perfect for sautéing
Shiitake – Earthy and umami-rich; ideal for stir-fries, soups, or roasted
Chestnut – Nutty, slightly peppery, and great for caramelizing
King Trumpet – Firm, meaty texture with a savory, umami punch
Your weekly selection will rotate based on availability, and whenever we introduce a new variety, we’ll include recipe cards and cooking tips to help you get the most out of each mushroom. By the end of summer, you’ll be a bona fide mushroom expert in your own kitchen!
Pricing Options:
Half pound every week for 18 weeks – $139
Full pound every other week (9 total deliveries) – $139
Full pound every week for 18 weeks – $199 (Best Deal 40% less per pound than the grocery store)

Sheep Cheese from Shepherd’s Way Farms

Add a season of local sheep cheese to your CSA! Each month you’ll receive a special selection of 2 sheep cheeses selected to complement your Open Hands Farm CSA produce. Chosen by cheesemaker Jodi, your cheeses will include Shepherd’s Way favorites Big Woods Blue, Friesago, Shepherd’s Hope, Hidden Falls along with harder-to-find and seasonal cheeses Morcella, Sogn, Skyr, Ricotta and others. Each share also includes notes about the farm and the cheeses, pairing suggestions, and recipe recommendations.
Shepherd’s Way farmstead sheep cheeses are made by hand (by Jodi!), on the family farm, with milk from Shepherd’s Way pasture-based sheep. Jodi and Steven live and work on the farm outside Nerstrand, across from the Big Woods State Park. Steven has been raising dairy sheep since 1994 and Jodi has been making sheep cheese for more than 20 years.
Our cheese CSA add-on is a curated selection of our award-winning sheep cheeses, special spreads and some cheeses not widely available in stores. We choose cheeses that work well with the veggies in season and include recipes and pairing suggestions.
The Cheese CSA is $90 for the season, each month’s selection includes two cheeses totaling a little more than 1/2 pound. Cheese CSA shares will be available once a month with your weekly veggie share – schedule to be announced. Want to know more about the farm? Visit www.shepherdswayfarms.com and Instagram @shepherdswaycheese
Email jodi@shepherdswayfarms.com with Cheese CSA add-on in the subject. Include your name, veggie CSA, contact info and payment choice (venmo to Steven-Read-5, credit card by phone, or check by mail). Questions? Text or call Steven 612-306-4210. We look forward to a great 2025 season!
Grass Fed Beef from Hanappe Ranch

Hanappe Ranch is your local source for organically raised grass fed beef. Our animals are born and humanely raised on our ranch in Castle Rock, MN. They have access to fresh air, fresh water, and room to socialize as cattle will. We rotationally graze our animals in the green months, and feed them our own organic hay during the brown and white months. We raise Black Angus, American Wagyu and Wagyu beef. Our 2025 CSA offerings can be found on our website. Beef orders will be delivered to Open Hands Farm the second week of CSA shares, or as coordinated with Hanappe Ranch. Custom packages are also available. Contact Kerry hanapperanch@gmail.com with any questions.
Free Range Chickens from Burning Daylight Farms

We pride ourselves on how we raise our meat birds. Once it is nice enough outside our chicks are truly free range! From the time they are let out in the morning until the afternoon the chickens are out hunting and foraging. We wait to give them grains until later in the day so that they range and hunt like ‘normal’ chickens. These happy, healthy birds come running when they see us coming with their treats. Since they eat a varied, natural, and healthy diet their meat is of the highest quality; juicy and flavorful. Enjoy the fresh taste of our farm-raised chicken today!
Priced per pound. $5/lb. Birds are generally 3- 5lbs each. 200 whole birds available for pick up at Burning Daylight farm on 7/21/2025. We sell our birds as whole birds, but if you purchase at least 5 birds you are welcome to come between 12-4pm on the pick-up days and we will teach/help you break down and package your birds into whatever cuts you prefer.
